Hard Interview Questions Are Not Designed to Catch You Out

They are designed to test something deeper.

Not just whether you can do the job. But whether you have:

✔ self-awareness
✔ judgement
✔ accountability
✔ communication skills
✔ resilience under pressure
✔ the ability to learn from mistakes

Some of the hardest questions candidates face include:

✔️“Tell us about a time you failed.”
✔️“What is your biggest weakness?”
✔️“Tell us about a time you received difficult feedback.”
✔️“Describe a time you had a conflict with a manager or colleague.”
✔️“Why should we hire you over other candidates?”
✔️“Tell us about a time you made a mistake at work.”

These questions can feel uncomfortable because they require honesty.
But the strongest candidates do not try to sound perfect.

They show the interviewer that they can reflect, take responsibility, explain their actions, and demonstrate growth.

A strong answer usually follows the SAO method:
Situation – What was happening?
Action – Wh
