That’s where the STAR method comes in, a simple, yet very effective way to structure your answers and show exactly what you’ve achieved.

What is the STAR Method?

STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, Result. It’s a framework that helps you tell clear, concise stories about your experience, so interviewers can see your strengths in action.

  • Situation: Set the scene. What was happening? What was at stake?
  • Task: What was your specific responsibility or challenge?
  • Action: What did you do? How did you approach the situation?
  • Result: What happened as a result of your actions? What did you achieve or learn?
