Here are the key instances when a resume doesn’t function as a resume:

If it reads like your life story, long job descriptions, and everything you’ve ever done, it’s not a resume. It’s a timeline.

✅ 2) When it becomes a task list

If it’s just duties like:

Answered phones Completed reports Attended meetings · …then it’s not a resume. It’s a job description.

✅ 3) When it becomes a brag sheet
